Getting a breast cancer diagnosis is never easy. Breast cancer survivor, Deb Welch, calls it the "unthinkable phone call." It's the call you never want to get. And yet, statistics tell us more than 360,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month invites us to reflect on our personal breast health and the screenings that are vital to early detection of cancer. And, this month invites us to remember those who fought through this disease, honor those who are battling it today and salute those who valiantly endured treatments and surgery to come out on the other side to thrive as breast cancer survivors.

Walk For A Purpose desires to honor these special women and men impacted by breast cancer. Yes, we have organized a virtual walk during the month of October that crisscrosses the United States. Yes, we are raising critical funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation in support of their vision "to end breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research." But equally important is our mission to pay tribute to the amazing people who have inspired us by their strength, resilience and fortitude to live life fully despite a breast cancer diagnosis.

Throughout October, we will pay tribute to these special persons by sharing their stories here at Walk For A Purpose. The list of honorees is our reason to walk...our reason to donate...our reason to heighten the awareness of breast cancer...and our reason to never stop pursuing a cure.
